Trade designation Nimonic grade stated in the product title
Important note Designations are cross-references only; compliance is determined by the ordered standard, chemistry, mechanical properties and condition.

Typical Chemical Composition

Nominal composition Nickel-chromium-cobalt alloy with molybdenum, aluminium and titanium; verify exact limits against the ordered specification
Verification Final acceptance shall use the heat analysis and limits in the ordered material specification.
Traceability Heat number is linked to the material certificate and package identification.

Typical Physical Properties

Density approximately 8.0 g/cm³
Property basis Published typical values are guidance values and are not guaranteed acceptance criteria.
Design use Engineering design should use temperature-dependent data from the applicable specification or approved material source.

Mechanical Properties and Heat Treatment

Condition Properties depend on product thickness, solution treatment and any precipitation-hardening cycle.
Acceptance Tensile, yield, elongation and hardness requirements follow the purchase specification.
Heat treatment Furnace control, temperature uniformity, cooling practice and batch records should be agreed where critical.
Sampling Test direction, location and frequency follow the governing standard or approved inspection plan.

Fabrication Guidance

Cold forming Allow for work hardening, bend radius and intermediate annealing when required.
Machining Use rigid tooling, positive feeds and suitable coolant; avoid dwell that can work-harden the surface.
Welding Keep joint surfaces clean and use qualified procedures appropriate to the alloy and service.
Post-fabrication Remove contamination and verify dimensions, surface and required NDT after processing.

Inspection and Quality Documentation

Material certificate EN 10204 3.1 or agreed alternative
Identification Grade, heat number, size and package marks
Optional testing PMI, UT, PT, dimensional report, hardness or third-party inspection by agreement
Quotation inputs Standard, size, quantity, condition, tolerance, testing, documentation and delivery destination

Applications

Typical procurement enquiries include gas-turbine components and other high-stress elevated-temperature fabrications. Application suitability must be confirmed by the purchaser’s engineer for temperature, atmosphere, stress and fabrication route.
