Manufacturing Process for Forged Bars and rings: |
The square/flat bars are made from ingots and are processed after giving required reduction ratio and discarding hot top and bottom for homogeneity. They are either processed by hot rolling or hot forging. These bars are further heat treated as per customer requirements by any one of the following processes
1.Annealing
2.Normalizing
3.Stress Relieving
4.Quenching and Tempering
5.Spheroidizing Annealing
Following checks are conducted in bars/rings/step shafts and reported in the TEST CERTIFICATE as per customer requirement.
1.Surface inspection is carried out of each bar end to end
2.Positive Material Identification using XRF to certify in process chemistry of each bar
3.100% dimensional verification using calibrated verniers and Go No-4.Go gauges
5.Step down testing
6.Upset forging test
7.NMIR (Non metallic inclusion rating)
8.Macrostructure testing
9.Microstructure phase analysis
10.Grain Size
11.Ultrasonic Testing for internal defects
12.Radioactivity test
13.Gas analysis (O, N, H)
