Hastelloy B2 Sheet and Plate: Reducing Acid Service and Procurement Guide

Hastelloy B2 (UNS N10665) is a nickel-molybdenum alloy associated with strong resistance in many reducing environments. Material selection must still consider contaminants, oxidizing species, temperature, concentration and fabrication history.

Key Selection Factors

Factor What the buyer should confirm
Process chemistry Acid type, concentration, temperature, impurities, aeration and upset conditions
Product specification ASTM B333 / ASME SB-333 or the project-specified equivalent
Condition Solution-treated condition and any project-specific heat-treatment requirement
Fabrication Qualified welding procedures, controlled heat input and suitable filler selection

Important Service Limitation

B2 is not a universal corrosion-resistant alloy. Strongly oxidizing media and oxidizing contaminants can materially change performance. Selection should be based on actual process data and, when necessary, corrosion testing or advice from the responsible materials engineer.

Sheet and Plate RFQ Data

Dimensions Thickness, width, length and dimensional tolerances
Surface and edges Finish, flatness, cut edge and protective-film requirements
